Is the PATH Train running reliably?

NWK-WTC HOB-WTC JSQ-33 HOB-33

Summary of April 2019 schedule changes

June 15, 2019

The following changes to PATH service have been made:

Travel times have increased:
JSQ-33/33-JSQ: Was 22 minutes, now 23 minutes
HOB-33/33-HOB: Was 14 minutes, now 15 minutes
HOB-WTC/WTC-HOB: Was 10 minutes, now 11 minutes

Travel times have decreased:
NWK-WTC/WTC-NWK: Service from 12AM to to 6AM was 25 minutes, now 22 minutes
This does not affect any connections. The time from Harrison to Newark has been shortened from 5 minutes to the standard 2 minutes on the WTC-NWK. Not sure why it was 5 minutes between those two stations, but it has been that way since 2016. On the NWK-WTC, the time from Exchange Place to WTC has been decreased to the standard 4 minutes instead of 7 minutes. Peak service is unaffected.

Trains have been shifted:
JSQ-33/33-JSQ has lost 2 trains
HOB-33/33-HOB: has lost 1 train
HOB-WTC has lost 1 train
NWK-WTC has gained 7 trains, WTC-NWK has gained 5 trains

Peak Service:
JSQ 33: 7-10 AM: 36 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 38 Trains
JSQ 33: 8-9 AM: 15 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 15 Trains

NWK-WTC: 7-10 AM: 44 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 41 Trains
NWK-WTC: 8-9 AM: 16 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 15 Trains

HOB 33: 7-10 AM: 22 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 23 Trains
HOB 33: 8-9 AM: 8 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 9 Trains

HOB-WTC: 7-10 AM: 26 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 26 Trains
HOB-WTC: 8-9 AM: 10 Trains, Old 8-9 AM: 10 Trains

The problem with the new schedule is the NWK-WTC and JSQ-33 connection is now overcrowded. With the old schedule you would have a 1:1 ratio of Newark trains dropping passengers off, and JSQ-33 trains taking off to Midtown. There will now be a mismatched train at 8:30 that will probably be super crowded. With the PATH always being 1-2 mins off their schedule, not positive this will have any real-life consequences - this was probably happening before the switch anyways.
